Literature Text

I remember when I first saw you.
It was the same day I was cursed.
When I was cursed with this fragile form.
I remember seeing you,
A creature in a strange body.
You would have never made it out alive,
If it hadn’t been for all I have done for you.

My throne had been stolen,
My name had been defaced.
And now I was alone,
in a body I did not know.
It was not until I saw you,
A creature like me that I had
Found a tiny weak glimmer of hope.
It was small but it was there nonetheless.

I took you as my slave, and for that
I am very sorry. You were not weak,
You were not a peasant, or even a true warrior,
But you held the hero’s spirit.
You were meant to save the world,
And be loved by all the world,
But I saw it as a chance,
To regain all that I had lost.

Every evil we slayed, every piece we regained,
You grew stronger and stronger,
And I grew to realize my own mistakes.
I had thought that in the beginning,
You had been at my side, yet I had no power,
And you had it all.
And it is with this knowledge,
That I sent you away, saved you even,
And stayed to defeat the evil that was meant for you.

Yet I was still very wrong.
I was defeated quickly, and I nearly died.
And yet the evil escaped only to be destroyed forever by you.
The hero, the light. I came to realize who I was here.
You were the hero, and I was the hero’s story.
And though it has come to an end,
Remember that it was I who saved you,
Who rescued you in the beginning.
And now I am saved, and will rule
On the other side for all eternity.
